This isn't just a demand for justice; it's a personal outcry to protect a loved one's memory.

Dave Kelly Ingram, a man of courage and humanity, bravely reported family abuse only to be slain by his own kin. He confronted the evildoers, placing himself in danger for the sake of his siblings. His murderers, William Henry Ingram Jr. and Latonya Renee Ingram, lied to  law enforcement by consciously labeling the home's rightful resident as a burglar. The evidence clearly demonstrates otherwise. 

Dave was killed in his own home, shot more than eight times, a chilling illustration of the violence he had fought against. For over four years, Dave's case has stagnated, his justice delayed. His killers, instead of being held accountable, roam freely, hiding behind a web of deceit. also finding Dionne Ingram Daves (my mother)  dead the following July. Demanding investigation of her death. 

The silence surrounding Dave's case portends a more profound societal problem: racial disparity in criminal justice. Perhaps, the inaction stems from the fact that Dave was a black man, as studies have shown that black victims are less likely to see their killers brought to justice (NAACP, 2019).

We can't change the past, but we can fight for a just outcome now. Dave's brave actions mustn't be erased by his tragic death. His spirit continues to inspire me. His life meant something. His son, who is now fatherless, is a college student; he deserves to see justice for his father. Remember, Dave stood up to protect; now it's my turn to stand for him.
