The Issue

Daniel Little was more than a name on a report.
He was a son, a loved one, and a person whose life mattered deeply to those who knew him. Yet the official record of his death still leaves painful questions unanswered for his family and community.

Daniel’s death was classified as “Suspicious / Undetermined.” For families, this ruling can mean living in a painful space between grief and uncertainty knowing something may have happened but without the official acknowledgment of the truth.

His family continues to seek answers and believes the circumstances surrounding Daniel’s death deserve a full and transparent review.

On August 29, 2021, 40-year-old Daniel Little was found deceased along a roadway near Greenleaf in Washington County, Kansas.

An autopsy later determined that Daniel died as a result of blunt force trauma, with extensive injuries including multiple fractures, internal bleeding, and organ damage. Despite these findings, the manner of death has not been publicly clarified in a way that reflects the severity and nature of the injuries documented.

Daniel’s death has been described as “suspicious.” More than three years later, it remains unsolved.

His family continues to live with unanswered questions.

Why This Petition Matters

The classification of a death is not just a word on a certificate. It directly impacts:

  • The urgency and scope of an investigation.
  • The allocation of investigative resources.
  • Public awareness and community engagement.
  • The ability of a family to seek accountability.
  • The historical and legal record of how a person died.
  • When a death involving significant blunt force trauma remains categorized in a way that does not clearly reflect homicide, it can create barriers to investigative momentum and transparency.

Daniel’s family is not asking for speculation.
They are not naming suspects.
They are not assigning blame.

They are asking for clarity.

Our Request

We respectfully request that the Washington County District Attorney and the Washington County Coroner’s Office formally review Daniel Little’s case and amend the manner of death on his death certificate from “suspicious” to “homicide,” consistent with the documented findings of blunt force trauma and the circumstances under which he was found.

Reclassification does not require identifying a suspect.
It does not require an arrest.

It acknowledges that Daniel’s death was caused by the actions of another person.

For Daniel. For Transparency. For Accountability.

Daniel Little was a brother, a son, and a man whose life mattered.

His family deserves a death certificate that accurately reflects the nature of his injuries and the reality of what happened to him.

They deserve transparency.
They deserve investigative clarity.
They deserve justice.

We ask Washington County officials to conduct an independent review of this case and take appropriate action to ensure Daniel’s death is properly classified.

Sign this petition to stand with Daniel’s family and to request a formal reclassification of his manner of death.

Because “suspicious” is not an answer.
And silence is not justice.
