No family should ever have to fight for justice when their person dies in suspicious circumstances.
The family of Courtney Anderson has had to just that - today, they move a little closer to knowing the truth about her death.
Courtney was killed on April 1 of 2024 on the Bruce Highway near Gladstone. She exited the vehicle at speed. Her partner was driving. She had endured years of domestic violence and was looking forward to forging a new life of freedom and peace.
Only two people know what happened in that car - Courtney cannot tell us herself.
Courtney's family needs to know the truth.
The one thing they are 101% certain of is Courtney's will to live. She loved her family, she loved her friends, she loved her job. She had plans for a holiday, to get her hair done the next day and to be safe.
Courtney's family have posted daily on social media about her, highlighting her humanity, her story and her lust for life.
I joined their campaign in October. In that time we have run a successful petition, put Courtney's story into mainstream media and pressured MPs from behind the scenes.
Finally, the Attorney General has listened to Courtney's family and will allow a formal inquest to occur.
This means the man in that vehicle will be questioned in a court of law and in front of her loved ones.
And hopefully, we will get a ruling that ensures Justice for Courtney. Until this happens, the Justice for Courtney petition will remail online! For more information about Courtney, visit australianfemicidewatch.org or support her family online at justice4courtney
