There’s been a small breakthrough in the investigation over the suspicious death of Courtney Anderson.
Courtney was killed on April 1 last year when she alighted from the vehicle she was in on the Bruce Hwy, near Gladstone, in Queensland.
The police and local coroner ruled her death a suicide but her family are 101% certain she was not wanting to end her own life and that she was actually on the verge of ending her relationship.
She suffered ongoing abuse from her male partner for years, her family says.
He was driving the vehicle when she died.
Over the past 10 months her family has pleaded for a proper investigation into Courtney's death.
In December, Australian Femicide Watch and Courtney's family launched a petition calling on the Queensland Police, the Attorney General, the Premier and the Police Minister to hold a proper homicide investigation and/or coronial inquest into Courtney's death.
Police have now charged her partner with driving under the influence of drugs on the night Courtney was killed.
It's a very small step - and far from the one Courtney's family needs. But it's something.
The petition continues to grow but we need more signatures to get Justice for Courtney.
