It's been five months since the Queensland Attorney-General announced there would be an inquest into Courtney Paige Anderson's death. Five months without a date for the inquest. Five months with almost no movement at all. Courtney's case features on She Matters podcast - her story is well worth the listen. Over two episodes, Courtney's mum Lee-Ann, dad Don and step-mum Kristy paint a portrait of their much-loved daughter and the lengths they've had to go to find out the truth about her death. They are working hard to change the story for other women facing domestic violence. They speak at events, walk in marches and tell Courtney's story at every opportunity.
They do all this while continuing their own investigations into her suspicious death.
"The more we investigate, the clearer it becomes that Courtney’s death urgently needs thorough and independent scrutiny," Kristy says.
"We know the evidence does not match the narrative accepted at the scene, and every passing day keeps us from healing while the truth remains unexamined.
"The system failed Courtney when she was alive — it cannot fail her again in death. We need movement. We need answers. We owe Courtney justice."
