Justice for Cory Ford: Wrongfully Imprisoned

Justice for Cory Ford: Wrongfully Imprisoned
The Issue
Petition Summary:
Cory Ford is a victim of a grave miscarriage of justice. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison after a series of events marked by police misconduct, denial of due process, and ineffective legal representation. Cory's story highlights the urgent need for reform within our justice system. Please sign this petition to demand a thorough investigation into Cory's case and fight for his release.
Petition Details:
In 2014, Cory was arrested for allegedly violating an order of protection. Because he was on parole, he was placed on a parole hold and denied bail.
While detained at Schenectady County Jail, Cory was brutally assaulted by correctional officers. During this attack, one officer injured another – not Cory – yet Cory was blamed and faced severe charges. This unjust accusation led to a 20-year sentence, a harsh and disproportionate punishment.
Cory's trial was riddled with irregularities. There was a lack of video evidence, and the officers involved gave inconsistent testimonies. Recently, a coworker came forward with new information that exonerates Cory, but the court has attempted to dismiss this critical evidence, claiming Cory was adequately represented by his attorney. This is despite clear evidence of ineffective assistance of counsel.
The impact of Cory's imprisonment on his family has been devastating. His daughter and son carry the weight of guilt, believing their cries for help led to their father's unjust incarceration. No child should have to endure such pain and responsibility.
Cory's family is currently preparing a 440 motion with the assistance of T. Mosher. They are also working to raise community support and media attention through the "Justice for Cory Ford" campaign.
We, the undersigned, demand the following:
- A thorough and impartial investigation into the assault at Schenectady County Jail and the subsequent trial.
- The court to consider the newly discovered evidence and grant Cory a new trial.
- A review of Cory's case for prosecutorial and judicial misconduct.
Legislative reforms to prevent similar injustices from occurring in the future.
Cory's case is a stark reminder of the flaws in our justice system. We must stand together to fight for his freedom and ensure that justice is served. Sign this petition and share it with your friends and family to help us bring Cory home!
