Justice for Corei a teenage boy who tragicly died in a mental health care setting

The Issue

Corei was the kindest, sweetest 14 year old boy who tragically lost his young life in a CAMHS psychiatric inpatient acute unit, a place he should have been kept safe. He should have been checked on at regular intervals, however bank / agency staff failed to do their jobs adequately and as a direct result of their negligence, a life full of potential has been lost.

For years patients have reported that many bank/agency staff don't have sufficient training and are therefore unequipped to perform their jobs adequately and now a 14 year old boy has lost his life on their watch.

The lack of training for bank staff and their subsequent incompetence to follow basic procedures facilitated the tragic early death of Corei, their patient, my friend… which is inexcusable and unforgiveable. I love you Corei and you will get the justice you deserve and you will not be forgotten. Your name will be synonymous with reform. The government MUST listen. It has gone too far now and imminent action has to be taken because we MUST NOT let this happen again. Anyone who works in a hospital environment needs adequate training. It’s not a simple job, errors can cost lives as has happened in this case. Bank staff must have more extensive training and stringent checks to keep their patients safe. Mental health facilities are meant to be where you are safest but sadly this is not the case. We need to make units safer before it’s too late. THE MENTAL HEALTH SYSTEM NEEDS TO BE REFORMED BEFORE WE LOSE ANOTHER PRECIOUS LIFE and this begins with funding and training.
