Justice for Chelley, Olandria & Ace: Stop Racism, Rigged Votes, and Biased Editing on Love

Justice for Chelley, Olandria & Ace: Stop Racism, Rigged Votes, and Biased Editing on Love
The Issue
REMINDER: THIS ISNT JUST FOR CHELLEY, OLANDRIA, AND ACE — THIS IS FOR ALL THE CONTESTANTS ON LOVE ISLAND WHO WERE EDITED IN WAYS TO MAKE THEN FIT THESE RACIAL STEREOTYPES, OR LOVE ISLAND CONTESTANTS WHO RECEIVED EXTREME AMOUNT OF BULLYING AND LOVE ISLAND DID NOTHING ABOUT IT OR CONTRIBUTED TO IT.
We, the undersigned fans and viewers of Love Island USA, demand accountability from producers, network executives, and associated platforms (like BuzzFeed) for the biased treatment, racialized violence, and targeted public humiliation of Chelley, Ace, and Olandria in Season 7.
These contestants, particularly the Black women in the villa, were dehumanized, edited unfairly, portrayed as villains, and then exposed to racist harassment and hate speech online, without a word of protection or defense from the show.
The Offenses?
- Chelley and Ace were edited to look combative, emotionally unstable, and toxic when in fact, they showed healthy boundaries, real emotional maturity, and honesty. Olandria was also repeatedly sidelined, shown in isolation or anger, never in joy or depth.
- Despite clear fan support across Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, and more, Chelley and Ace were eliminated under suspicious timing , right after a surge in support following the latest episode. Their elimination, along with Olandria’s earlier exit, raises serious concerns about producer interference or a skewed voting system possibly aimed at securing a win for other couples.
- We demand ranked-choice voting to prevent sabotage and bias. With ranked voting, fan support cannot be split or undermined.
- A racist meme circulating online photoshopped Olandria’s face onto George Floyd and another Islander, Huda depicted as Derek Chauvin, the officer who murdered him. This is vile, traumatic, and dangerous — and Love Island USA has said NOTHING to protect their contestants or condemn this racism
- BuzzFeed Tasty created a now-deleted Instagram post giving Chelley a “dream breakfast” of a knuckle sandwich, Goldfish crackers “in case Ace gets fussy”, and fruit — while all other Islanders got normal, flattering meals. Though the post was removed, BuzzFeed never issued a real apology or explained how it was approved. Silence is not accountability.
This post:
-
- Encouraged violence against a Black woman
- Infantilized a Black man
- Reinforced toxic stereotypes under the guise of humor
- Influencer Adelaine Morin also posted a video where she punches a bag, joking that it’s Chelley and Olandria. Regardless of intention, this feeds into a pattern of normalizing physical aggression toward Black women and turning them into targets of internet rage. From BuzzFeed to influencers, these “jokes” send the same message: It’s okay to hit, mock, or dehumanize Black women for entertainment. It’s not.
What We Want:
- A public apology to Chelley, Ace, and Olandria from Love Island USA and their ambassadors and hosts of this season
- Removal of offensive posts & accountability from BuzzFeed and influencers
- A public statement condemning racism, the George Floyd meme, and Buzzfeed from Love Island
- Ranked-choice and Transparency voting in future seasons
- Editorial & social media accountability
This Is Not Just Another Petition
- This isn’t like the petitions made when Bella or Jeremiah were voted off. This is not just about a fan favorite leaving , it’s about the racial double standards, media complicity, and dangerous silence surrounding what Chelley, Ace, and Olandria endured.
- This is about:
-
Bias in casting, editing, and media coverage
-
Neglecting racial abuse and turning Black contestants into punching bags
-
Public humiliation that goes unchecked
-
And the need for real accountability from brands like BuzzFeed, influencers, and the Love Island USA team as a WHOLE.
