My son was recently incarcerated, a situation that has thrown our family into turmoil. Not only were we extorted out of money, but my son was brutally assaulted within the prison walls. He suffered 25 stab wounds to his back, and I am still in the dark about the full extent of what he endured. This is not an isolated incident; just last month in June 2023, there was a murder within this very prison.

The lack of adequate security personnel is glaringly obvious and it's high time someone is held accountable for these atrocities happening behind bars. The American Civil Liberties Union reports that violence in prisons can be attributed to understaffing and overcrowding (ACLU). It's clear that this issue extends beyond my personal story; it's a systemic problem affecting thousands of families across the country.

Prisoners are human beings with civil rights too. They deserve protection from harm and fair treatment under law enforcement custody. We demand immediate action to improve conditions within prisons - more guards for better security, stricter regulations against extortion practices, and transparency regarding incidents involving prisoners' safety.
