The Issue

My story Below 👇👇

We, Call on the UK Government to acknowledge and address the unjust treatment of care workers who were dismissed or forced to leave their jobs due to the COVID-19 vaccine mandate that was imposed in 2021 and later revoked.

Many dedicated care professionals lost their livelihoods despite years of service, not because of misconduct or poor performance, but due to a policy that has since been deemed unnecessary and was reversed. These individuals were placed under immense pressure, faced stigma, and ultimately lost careers that they were passionate about — all during a time when the care sector was already under severe strain.

We ask the Government to:

1. Formally acknowledge the harm caused to these workers by the short-lived vaccine mandate.

2. Issue a public apology to care workers who were unjustly dismissed or pressured out of their roles.

3. Explore fair compensation or redress for those affected.

4. Establish a route to re-employment or professional reinstatement where possible.

5. Ensure policies are in place to prevent such outcomes from happening again in future public health decisions.

My Story :-

For years, I worked as an Advanced Skills Worker for Essex County Council, supporting vulnerable individuals with dedication, compassion, and professional care. I took pride in my role, knowing I was making a real difference in people's lives — not just as a job, but as a calling.

When the COVID-19 vaccine mandate was introduced, I was faced with an impossible choice: take a vaccine I wasn't comfortable with, or lose the career I had spent years building. Despite my track record, my experience, and the trust I'd earned from both clients and colleagues, my personal decision led to me being forced out of my role.

I wasn’t dismissed for misconduct, negligence, or poor performance — I was dismissed for exercising bodily autonomy during an uncertain time. Later, the government reversed the mandate, acknowledging that the policy was no longer appropriate. But by then, the damage had been done.

I lost my job, my income, my professional identity — and like many others, I’ve had no apology, no compensation, and no recognition of the harm caused.

This petition is not just about me. It’s about every care worker who was unjustly treated under a policy that was later scrapped. We deserve to be heard, to be acknowledged, and to be treated with the dignity we gave to others every day in our roles.

These workers deserve justice, recognition, and support — not to be forgotten or sidelined for making personal medical decisions during an uncertain and rapidly evolving public health crisis.
