The issue

In May last year, Byron Haddow — known and loved as “Bizza” — passed away in Bali under circumstances that remain unclear and deeply concerning.

Our family was initially told that Byron had been found in a villa pool and had drowned. However, as time went on, the information we received became increasingly inconsistent and conflicting.

There has been no clear or formal police report made available to our family.

The three Australians who were with Byron at the time have not provided truthful or consistent accounts of what occurred and left the scene after medics arrived.

Most concerning of all, CCTV footage appears to present a very different picture from what we were originally told.

We have been left navigating unimaginable grief alongside confusion, unanswered questions, and a lack of transparency.

No family should have to fight for the truth when a loved one dies overseas.

We are calling on the Australian Government to:

• Ensure transparent and accountable investigation processes for Australians who die abroad

• Require proper documentation and reporting in all cases

• Improve communication and support for families

• Introduce independent review processes where circumstances are unclear or disputed

This is not just about Byron.

It is about protecting all Australians and ensuring no other family is left in the dark.

Byron mattered. His life mattered. And the truth matters.
