A small Shih Tzu dog named Ares was tragically and senselessly murdered in broad daylight by two individuals in Victoria, TX on May 13. Despite posing no threat and having committed no transgression, this innocent creature was strangled and shot, a horrifying act perpetrated before the eyes of neighbors and community members. This act of profound brutality did not merely end the life of a defenseless animal; it shattered the sense of security and compassion within our community.

Our beloved neighborhood has been left heartbroken, people are frustrated and scared.  Ares's death should not be in vain. It is imperative that we advocate for actions that ensure severe punishment for those who commit acts of animal cruelty.

We call on local authorities in Victoria, TX, to ensure that these laws are applied to the fullest extent and to seek enhancements in penalties that appropriately reflect the gravity of these offenses.
