I just signed the following petition addressed to: Chairperson National Commission of Women
Respected Sir/ Madam
A teacher from Jalandhar Apeejay School Mrs. Akansha Malhotra (30) passed away on 17/8/2012 in mysterious and suspicious circumstances. She belonged to Pathankot and was married in the Malhotra Family in Jalandhar. Her family details as follows:
Poojan Malhotra –Husband
Sudhir Malhotra – Father in Law
Renu Malhotra – Mother In Law
Kanika Malhotra – Sister In Law
It is brought to your notice that Akansha's body was found in Mysterious circumstances and her body was fished out on the outskirts of Nalwah Bridge Pathankot, Punjab at Village Dheriwal at about 9.00 am on 18/08/12 and FIR was registered to this effect at PS Division 2 Pathankot. It is further brought to your notice that prior to this that on 17/08/12 at about 8.30 pm her father was called by Akansha’s in-laws family by telephone that his r daughter was missing since 6.30 pm. Apprehending the doubt/suspicion oher father reached Jalandar at her in-laws family at about 10.30PM. Her father called the police authority Div. no. 1 Jalandar under whose Jurisdiction area falls to reach in the house of Akansha’s in laws.
On his complaint to the police authority they rounded up the four suspected accused namely: Sudhir Malhotra(Father in law), Renu Malhotra(Mother in law), Poojan Malhotra(Husband) and Kanika Malhotra(Sister in law) and were taken into police custody by the police party of Jalandar at about 12.30 am 18/08/12.
After registering of FIR no. 86(18/08/12) Pathankot police went to Jalandhar to take all the four accused into their custody. But, to our utmost surprise, the police party of Pathankot came only with only one accused Poojan Malhotra (Akansha’s Husband) along with the minor son Atharv (3 yrs old) of the deceased and the other three remaining accused, who were earlier taken into the custody were led scot free.
It is very shocking and disheartening incident that inspite of the rounding up of the four accused with the Jalandhar police party and Pathankot police party, how the three accused above were allowed to escape inspite of their arrest.
I demand a thorough and detailed enquiry may please be conducted from an upright Senior Police Officer so that the reality and the truth come to the fore.
The people responsible for their evasion should be booked under respective sections of I.P.C and the severest punishment and stringent departmental action be initiated against them
It has been 14 days since her death and no action has been taken so far.
