Justice for 19 Birch Street — Return the Home Built from a Mother’s Love

My name is Ra Shon Mikal Jeffers (legal name Rashon Jeffers).

I’m fighting for justice — for my family, for my son, and for the home that was built from love.

When I was 11 years old, someone tried to kidnap me in Mt. Vernon. My mother used her child-support payments to help my grandmother buy a house that would keep me safe: 19 Birch Street, New Rochelle.

That home became our family’s refuge — a symbol of protection and survival.

Before my mother passed away in 2014, she warned that relatives would one day betray their own mother and try to take everything from her. She was right.

Soon after, my grandmother was forced out of her home and later placed in assisted housing, even though she was still mentally strong.

After meeting my son (born 2016), my grandmother told me:

“Make sure you secure that home for you and your son — my great-grandbaby.”

But in 2021, 19 Birch Street was quietly foreclosed and transferred to U.S. Bank Trust N.A., Trustee for LSF9 Master Participation Trust.

I was never notified or lawfully evicted, even though I maintained the property and operated my business, Jeffers Power Washing Pros, from that address.

A realtor involved in the process offered me “relocation help” while helping finalize the transfer for the bank and property management company — a clear conflict of interest.

💔

What They Took From Us

Just days before they came to clear the house, I bought my son a dirt bike and a PlayStation 5 for his March 25, 2024 birthday. He was so excited — it was supposed to be a moment of joy after everything we’d been through.

But less than two weeks later, on April 8, 2024, a city marshal and movers arrived and emptied our home under disputed authority.

They took everything — my clothes, my business tools, my son’s gifts — and never returned them.

I filed a police report, but the system limited how it could be classified.

Those gifts weren’t just expensive items. They were a father’s promise to bring happiness to his son after years of loss.

When they disappeared, it felt like our memories and peace were stolen too.

What I’m Asking For

1️⃣ A formal investigation into the foreclosure and transfer of 19 Birch Street, New Rochelle.

2️⃣ Accountability for all parties — including the realtor and property-management agents — who profited from this wrongful act.

3️⃣ Restoration or compensation for the loss of the property that was meant to protect my family for generations.

4️⃣ Public recognition that what happened to us is part of a larger pattern of families — especially Black families — losing homes built through generations of sacrifice.

✊🏽

Why It Matters

This is more than a house.

It’s a promise between a mother, a grandmother, and a son.

If families like mine can lose everything despite doing everything right, none of us are safe from a system that profits from our pain.
