Justice for 120 mostly Bangladeshi Migrant Workers at Aerofoam Manufacturing, Malaysia
The Issue
Approximately 120 workers at Aerofoam Manufacturing (1969) Sdn. Bhd. are currently in a desperate fight for their basic rights—and they are facing retaliation for speaking up.
These workers, the majority of whom are migrants from Bangladesh, have been subjected to unacceptable working conditions, including:
- Three months of unpaid wages, leaving them unable to support their families back home.
- Insecure immigration status, with approximately 35 workers now facing threats to their visa and PLKS renewals through no fault of their own.
- Persistent instability regarding their passports, recruitment-related debts, and general welfare.
- Despite seeking resolution through the proper channels—including the Department of Labour in Malaysia and the Bangladesh High Commission—the workers continue to live in fear. They are not asking for charity; they are demanding the fair treatment and the dignity they were promised when they arrived in Malaysia.
We are calling for urgent intervention to ensure:
- Zero Retaliation: No worker should be punished, fired, or intimidated for raising legitimate grievances.
- Protection Against Deportation: No detention or forced repatriation while these claims remain unresolved.
- Legal Security: The issuance of Special Passes or equivalent documentation to ensure workers can stay in the country lawfully while their cases are processed.
- Transparent Resolution: A joint meeting involving the company, the Bangladesh High Commission, the Department of Labour, and the workers' representatives to resolve all outstanding claims collectively.
- Workers must not be treated as disposable.
