Day 210th of my 3rd #HungerStrike Outside UNHCR Office — Outcome of My Pleading With the Pollination Project for Emergency Funding.

As my complete deprivation in Greece still continues, so is my struggle in securing an emergency grant in order to support my survival and be able to continue the fight for my freedom, my dignity and honor.

However, my endeavors in this regard have not yet yielded any significant results that would greatly contribute to improving or impacting my dire situation in a positive way.

Another organization that has recently declined to lend its support to my cause is called “The Pollination Project.” Although in addition to several other areas of interest, supporting Human Rights is also listed on their agenda, but rather than offering direct assistance, they referred me to the Front Line Defenders and asked me to seek help there while also saying that they would root for me, without specifying how exactly they would be doing that or even without forwarding my request to the Front Line Defenders directly themselves.

Moreover, unlike some other organizations, primarily they also needed a reference before allowing for submission of an application to them. Not any regular references, though, particularly not any individuals with personal email addresses such as Gmail OR yahoo. So, in this case I had to request help from Audrey Macklin, who is a Professor, and Chair in Human Rights Law at the Faculty of Law in the University of Toronto and to some extent is aware of my dire situation here in Greece at least as far back as since January 2019. She kindly agreed on submitting a reference to them without delay.

Yet, about two weeks later the Pollination Project sent an email and said “Our evaluation panel has carefully reviewed your application and has decided not to fund your project at this time. Our funding guidelines dictate that we fund projects focused on community service rather than individual aid, which, unfortunately, means we are unable to fund your proposal. However, we wanted to connect you with Front Line Defenders, an organization dedicated to protecting human rights defenders. They offer grants specifically to provide for the security needs of human rights defenders.”

However the Front Line Defenders, which is one of the first organizations I had reached out to, declined my application on Wednesday, February 16th, 2022. Their email is public on my Facebook Page at the given link below:

Which is why I sent another email to the Pollination Project last Friday and requested for my earlier application to be reconsidered. I also linked to the Front Line Defenders email and copied the organization in my correspondence with them.

However, given their previous responses, whether either of them ultimately decides to offer any help at all is hard to see.

Hence, my struggle for acquiring an emergency grant elsewhere still continues. Which is why I need all the support I can possibly get and, that’s not just with publicity and raising awareness of my dire situation but also with both of my campaigns.
