Day 199th of my 3rd #HungerStrike Outside UNHCR Office — Ombudsman's Conclusion on my December’s Complaint Regarding the Destruction of My Banner.
Following the destruction of my Banner outside the UNHCR office[1] in Athens, Greece on Thursday, December 23rd, 2021, by a Fascist and Racist Greek woman along with her dog and the Police’s deliberate misconduct in denying to file my Complaint, ultimately I found no other choice but to address those matters to the Greek Ombudsman in order to ask for mediation and assistance.
My Complaint to the Greek Ombudsman was sent on Tuesday, December 28th, 2021. The Greek Ombudsman sent its first letter[2] on Monday, January 03rd, 2022, acknowledging the receipt of my complaint and sent its second letter[3] in Greek on Friday, January 14th, 2022, which was addressed to the Ambelokipo Police Department concerning the matter and lastly three months later on Tuesday, March 29th, 2022, the Ombudsman sent its final letter concluding their so-called investigation by citing the following:
“Allegedly on the day of the incident, the officer on duty at the Ambelokipo Police Station after explaining my rights under the Greek Law (Which never happened), has asked me to return back to their police station along with an interpreter within three months of the timing of the incident to file my complaint with them. Apparently, according to the Greek Ombudsman’s letter, I didn’t accept an interpreter appointed by the Police. Moreover, the Greek Ombudsman also claims I didn’t appear at the Police Station again along with an interpreter during the time frame the Police had specified for me, as the Police had asked me to, therefore, accordingly there was no room for mediation by the Greek Ombudsman and they declare the case closed.”
Of course, what the Greek Ombudsman claims are completely groundless and unfounded. To prove that, I am hereby sharing the entire transcript along with the whole audio record of my conversation with the said Police Officer on duty at the Ambelokipo Police Station on the day of the incident one hour from the time it occurred.
It would be fair to say, by listening to it impartially, you should be able to draw the same conclusion as I did. Which again brings us to the point where I say this is yet another undeniable evidence exposing these people lying and covering up each other’s lies, which has been a never-ending trend during these many years of this ongoing Hostage taking and my complete deprivation in this country.
Here is the transcript of my conversation with the said Police Officer on duty at the Ambelokipi Police Station:
Police officer: “Kherete.”
Me: “Hello, I don’t speak Greek. I speak English.”
The Police officer: “No.”
Me: “What No.”
The Police officer: “I don’t speak English.”
Me: “Well, I don’t know, I have a complaint, I spoke with some Police officers, half or maybe one hour ago, they told me to come here…[being Interrupted]”
The Police officer: “Bring your friend to speak Greek, to translate.”
Me: “I don’t have any friends.”
The Police officer: “I can’t speak English very well and can’t understand you.”
Me: “Maybe you can communicate with the Police officers who told me to come here, to file a complaint here.”
The Police officer: “What’s the problem. Ti Eyne Problema (Greek).”
Me: “ Some people, one woman with her dog destroyed my property in front of UNHCR.”
The Police Officer: “Ne, okay.”
Me: “Okay, and she left. She didn’t pay for the damages. She didn’t fix it, and she left. She didn’t wait for the Police, so.”
The Police officer: “You know her?”
Me: “I don’t know her, but, I took a picture and gave it to… [being interrupted]”
The Police officer: “Okay, name? Something?”
Me: “ No. I just gave the picture, the photo to other Policemen.”
The Police officer replied in Greek and said two or three sentences which I didn’t understand at all.
Me: “I already told you, I don’t speak Greek. So I don’t know what you said. My complaint is simple. This woman with her dog destroyed my banner and left. She didn’t fix it, I asked her to fix it; she didn’t fix it. I asked her to pay for it; she didn’t pay for it. I called the Police. Police came, but by the time the Police arrived she already left. I gave her picture to the Police, and I explained the situation to them, they told me to come here and file a complaint, so I am here.”
The Police officer: “You don’t have a name or something to… [being interrupted]”
Me: “me, my name?”
The Police officer: “Her”.
Me: “No.”
The Police officer: “So, we can’t search her with only the picture.”
Me: “The other Policemen with black uniform, they took a picture from me, from the woman, from my phone and they said they are going to find her. But …[being interrupted]”
The Police officer: “Yea, but if they don’t have that. You can’t sue someone that you don’t know his name.”
Me: “They said, we are going to find it and the meantime… [being interrupted]”
The Police officer: “Yes, but they didn’t.”
Me: “They said, it takes time. In the meantime, they told me to come here and file a complaint. That’s what they told me… [being interrupted]”
The Police officer: “Okay, to who? Give me a name.”
Me: “I don’t know his name, the woman’s name.”
The Police officer: “What could we do, if we don’t know who?!”
Me: “Well, I have a complaint. I have a picture. How could I know the name? You are the Police, find that person. And she lives in the neighborhood, Around here, Michalalakoupoulou 91. How can I give you a name? I don’t know her, personally.”
The Police officer once again switched to Greek and said two or more sentences which I didn’t understand.
Me: “What?”
The Police officer replied in Greek again.
Me: “English, please.”
The Police officer: “Can you show me the picture?”
Me: “Yes, and I already gave it to the other people and the Policeman said… [being interrupted]”
The Police officer left his desk, approached me and said again: “Can you show me the picture?”
Me: “Yes” I replied while opening my Cellphone to show the picture to him, I continue my unfinished sentence. “... and the Policemen said by the time I get here, they already sent the information to your computer, to your system. So, they told me if I come here, it will already be there, because I asked for a note from the Police.”
The Police officer: “Yes, but they didn’t find her. We don’t have an address, a name, something to research?”
Me: “No. The only thing I have is… [being interrupted]”
The Police officer: “Don’t help, only the picture, we cannot do anything only with a picture. Okay? Yes, we cannot do anything further than search her outside without a name, only this, this is done… [being interrupted]”
Me:” I told the other Policemen in black uniform, they said it’s okay, we gonna find it, we have the picture and in the meantime, they asked me to come here and file a complaint, so, why they asked me to come here and file a complaint if… [being interrupted]”
The Police officer: “If they will find her, now that they didn’t…” and he continues saying a lot of other stuff in Greek from there which I didn’t understand.
Me: “I don’t understand Mr. How many times I have to tell you, I don’t understand Greek, English, please.”
The Police officer: “And I can’t speak English very well, so… [being interrupted]”
Me: “So, tell me in the same way you were speaking for…” and now the phone rings and he picks up answering that...”
After answering the Phone which didn’t take more than just a few seconds he returns back to me with only one single word “Okay?”
Me: “Maybe you can communicate with the Police officers that I talked to one hour ago. Is there a way to connect with them?”
The Police officer: “No.”
Me: “Why not? What’s the problem?”
The Police officer: “I cannot.”
Me: “Can't you find them?"
The Police officer: “No. To tell them what?”
Me: “You sent this person to our Police Station to file a complaint… [being interrupted]”
The Police officer: “Yes.”
Me: “Yes, yes, what?”
The Police officer: “To tell them what?”
Me: “To file a complaint. To tell you that they know the situation, they know the case, so, have you found this person, do you know a name, have you got the name for this person?”
The Police officer: “No. They didn’t. They tell me.”
Me: “When?”
The Police officer: “Before.”
Me: “How? Within one hour research?”
The Police officer: “I don’t know how time they research her.”
Me: “So, you're just making this up! What is this?”
The Police officer: “What?”
Me: “You just made this up? Did you just make this up? This happened one hour ago. I spoke with the other Policemen one hour ago…[being interrupted]”
The Police officer is now once again replying in Greek.
Me: “English.”
The Police officer: “You told me your complaint. Can I do something else?”
Me: “No. You didn’t write anything in your computer. I need you to write it down and give me a copy.”
The Police officer: “What? Tell me what to write.”
Me: “I am this person. I give you my identification…[being interrupted]”
The Police officer: “I need a name to write.”
Me: “My name?”
The Police officer: “Okhi. Her name. To research.”
Me: “I told you, I don’t have this person’s name.”
The Police officer: “What do I do then?”
Me: “If anybody commits a crime somewhere and hides. It’s just like this? You don’t find this person?”
The Police officer: “My colleagues with black uniform, they search her. That is what we do. I without a name…” he continues completing his sentences in Greek.
Me: “That’s what I told them. Yet, they told me it’s okay, go to the Police Station, we inform them, and that’s why I am here.”
The Police officer: “If they find her.”
Me: “No. They told me, go now. That’s what they told me. So, … [being interrupted]”
The Police officer: “Okay man, you told me.”
Me: “I didn’t come here just to tell you. I came here to file a complaint.”
The Police officer: “Okay, you did.”
Me: “No. I didn’t.”
The Police officer: “Okay.”
Me: “I need you to file my complaint, give me my copy and that’s it.”
The Police officer: “We don’t give copies in complaints!”.
Me: “How you can’t give copies. You have to. When somebody makes a complaint, you give a copy.”
The Police officer: “This is not how we do things in Greece. In Police Station. In Greek Police.”
Me: “Look Mr. I am tired. I am on Hunger Strike. I don’t want to…[being interrupted]”
The Police officer asked me in an angry tone: “okay, can I help you with something else?”
Me continuing my unfinished sentence: “ … I don’t want to argue too much with you. I explained the situation with you. I told the other Policemen. I told them that I don’t know the names. I gave them a picture and they send me, go to the Police Station, Ambelokipo Police Station, file a complaint.”
The Police officer: “We will find her and will contact you. Okay?”
This was the end of my 10 minutes long, unpleasant conversation with the Police officer. So, after that, I left, hoping I will be contacted soon, but the Greek Ombudsman’s letter clearly indicates that they lied. The Police officer said “They will find the woman and contact me” only to send me away, without having the intention of ever pursuing my complaint.
What is more painful is that the Greek Ombudsman seems to be covering up for them by withholding its letter until exactly 3 months had passed from the time of the incident, which, according to them is the acceptable time frame within which my complaint should have been brought to the attention of the authorities.
This is how they do things in Greece. Rather than upholding our rights, they all have become complicit and backing each other in violating and disregarding them.
A system and the whole society all together that use every opportunity and constantly push for our enslavement, with ultimately no rights or whatsoever, and they never get tired of it, because that’s their ultimate agenda.
Refugees’ lives matter too, and we are not slaves, no matter how hard they try to make us.
Yours Respectfully;
