At the premises of the Canadian Embassy yesterday, Thursday, July 08th, 2021, after I informed the reception of my presence there and of my requests for speaking with a representative from the Canadian Embassy, I set my Banner up in front of their Embassy and continued to be there till about 19:00 O’clock. I arrived there at 13:00 O’clock.
At the reception after they gave me a piece of paper like the one they gave me during one of my visits there in 2014, which refers people to the Visa Section of Canadian Immigration and Citizenship in their Embassy in Rome, the receptionist disappeared into the room and wouldn’t respond to me any longer even despite standing there and trying to communicate with them for over 5 minutes.
Practically, I had to leave the reception and go back there again for the second time just to inform the person there of my requests for speaking with a representative from the Embassy and also of my presence there along with my Banner.
After I managed to inform the reception, I also conveyed my requests to the Canadian Embassy via a tweet. Later I also recorded a video message and addressed the Prime Minister of Canada and the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship and asked for help. Through the same series of tweets, I also reached out to the Citizenship and Immigration Community (CIMM) in the Canadian Parliament as well as the Human Rights Committee (RIDR) at the Senate of Canada in order to request their assistance in resolving this pressing matter.
Those aside, I went through one of the most torturous days of my life there at the premises of the Canadian Embassy yesterday. The last time I was there, the heat was my tormentor, but yesterday it was the wind, which was blowing nonstop and forced me into standing by and holding my Banner all day along, yet still by the end of the day it ultimately broke the supporting pole of my Banner.
The first time it happened it was about 20 minutes to 16:00 O’clock. I found a temporary fix which could only last till half past 18:00 O’clock, but by then it broke again and was of no use any longer.
My phone which I think has problems was also repeatedly dying and shutting down even despite a power bank being connected to it the whole time, which made my day a lot more bitter. Due to financial restraints I haven’t been able to neither fix it nor get a new one.
I left the premises of the Canadian Embassy at about 19:00 O'clock, but was only able to catch a bus about one hour later at 20:00 O'clock.
I went straight to the downtown and spent several hours on trying to find a solution, if possible, a durable one, for the supporting pole of my Banner. The last week the Police took them at the Ministry of Migration Policy while trying to reach the Minister there. Back then I had to get a whole new machine, because I couldn’t find a replacement for them and this week they got broken by wind.
At last I could only find a temporary fix, by being able to find some spare bars similar to the ones used for the supporting pole of my Banner. Though for the new piece I have to use tape to keep them together while the Banner is open and have no idea whether this time it will be resistant to wind OR not.
By the time I got back to the National Library of Greece, where I use the electricity and the internet to charge my electronics and edit and publish my videos, it was already midnight 00:00 O'clock and I was tremendously exhausted and couldn’t do a thing. So I had to go and rest and postpone the work for the next day.
I have been undocumented ever since March 19th, 2018, and now without shelter, without food and without money. In fact, I have been without shelter since after the destruction of my fifth shelter at the doorsteps of the UNHCR and also before undergoing my second Hunger Strike (73-days long) there almost the whole summer last years which was carried out on the cracked pavement and in the nasty and sickening dust. I have also been surviving on other people’s Donations ever since.
From the looks of it, it seems they want to force me into taking another Hunger Strike and eventually starve me to death and cover it up.
Due to health complications from the last summer’s Hunger Strike (73-days long) I am trying to the best of my ability to avoid another Hunger Strike. But even in spite of that, I am still skipping two meals a day only to survive.
I fear for my life, my safety and well-being.
Please spread the word and show that you care and therefore not indifferent to what is happening here. So, the UNHCR can come to its senses and take urgent action for resolving my dire situation in this country by referring my case for Resettlement in another country.
