Motorcycle theft is becoming an increasing problem in the uk. The problem is it is too far down on police priority nothing is getting done to solve this problem. These stolen bikes are being used in all sorts of ways and before long will end up killing somebody. I’ve been a victim of motorcycle theft and have been through the unjust process. Firstly the police are very open about the fact that it is not a priority. Weeks or even months later when the bike is finally recovered in god knows what state it’s impounded. You the Victim are then told to pay £250 (depending on your area could be more) to recover your property. Or alternatively have your insurance pay it which most people do as it’s a large upfront cost. Then when it comes to renewing your policy you find your premiums have gone up because of the claim, further being punished because of the criminals actions. I’m petitioning for this to be changed I want stricter laws against these criminals. Order them through the courts to pay the costs. If they fall under the age of 18 these costs should be past on to the parents. Along with prosecution. It’s very clear the law needs changing so police can take chase against criminals even if the are not wearing helmets. 

Given these uncertain times and cost of living crisis. A motorcycle could mean someone getting to work to survive or even used as their job. With it being stolen that could mean loss of earnings which means a great deal to people that need them. We need to make it as difficult as possible to have our property stolen. We also need to make massive deterrents to stop these criminals. I plead for the government to change laws and stop protecting criminals. I hope for change.
