Juneteenth Nationwide Prison strike supporting an Incarcerated individual Bill of Rights
The Issue
URGENT MESSAGE OF A HUMANITARIAN CRISIS IN THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA AND THE STATE THE CITIZENS RESIDE THEREIN.
The prison system in our country is failing. 2.1 million people are currently incarcerated in the United States, with a national recidivism rate of an astounding 77 %. We are only warehousing human beings to be used as slaves. The prison industrial complex generates $4 Billion in revenue each year.
We the people of the United States of America and the State the citizens reside in are presently in the midst of a "humanitarian crisis" that denies citizens their God-given right to "humanity."
As a consequence of their own actions, citizens may be deprived of rights that are fundamental to liberty, yet the laws of the United States Constitution demand recognition of certain other rights. Incarcerated citizens retain the essence of "human dignity" inherent in all persons. Respect for that dignity animates the 8th Amendment prohibition against cruel and unusual punishment. The basis underlying the 8th Amendment is nothing less than the dignity of man.
The United States of America and the State the citizens resides in has a pattern or practice of resistance to the full enjoyment of Rights protected by the 8th Amendment and routinely violate those rights by (1) failing to protect the incarcerated citizens from unnecessary and excessive use of force by security staff (2) by failing to provide the incarcerated citizens with safe conditions of living (3) by failing to protect violence and sexual abuse amongst the incarcerated citizens and (4) by failing to allow for a meaningful redress of grievance by filing posts conviction relief for resentencing based on the evolving standard of decency of a maturing society provision of the 8th Amendment. The evolving standard of decency of a maturing society provision of the 8th Amendment provides that as society's morals and values change a sentence that was once considered legal is now illegal that allows the incarcerated citizens to challenge their sentences as being illegal and (5) Stop the involuntary solitude of convict leasing and the paying to perform duties as an employee for less than the Federal minimum wage.
Together, we have the power to have our elected leaders who supposedly believe in an America for all of us, pass legislation for the humane treatment of incarcerated citizens, humane living conditions for the incarcerated citizens, and an opportunity to redress the court for resentencing based on the evolving standards of decency provisions of the 8th Amendment.
It is time we put our power on full display by showing solidarity with incarcerated citizens in the United States of America and the State wherein the citizens reside. What is at stake is God's giving humanity to all mankind.
