San Diego county has used Jacumba  Hot Springs as a dumping ground for sexually violent predators for far too long.  Jacumba has had the relocation of over 10 sexually violent predators into their community, and the majority of those who have had been relocated here have reoffended. Judge Howard Shore decided on October 27th, 2020, that Joseph Blockett will be relocated into Jacumba. Mr. Blockett has committed heinous crimes against children ranging from ages four to nine. Blockett has been diagnosed with Pedophilic Disorder and is sexually attracted to both girls and boys. Blockett is a very dangerous man. He has been released two separate times before this and committed a total of three sexually violent offenses on children. Blockett has proven he is incapable of reform and change. He does not deserve another chance. If this man is truly reformed as the county says, why can't he be relocated into Downtown, La Jolla, Lakeside, or Santee? Why are our children and the residents of Jacumba not as important as those in other communities? The answer to that is simple, it is. Our safety is just as important as all the other communities and residents of San Diego County. The resident to sexually violent predators ratio in San Diego is 994 to 1, but in Jacumba, the ratio of resident to sexually violent predators is 37 to 1!!! The community and residents of Jacumba have had enough of this madness. Other options must be explored first. Diane Jacobs suggests that we put Blockett in a trailer in front of the Donovan Correctional Facility. He would be no threat to any community or child. It's time we take a stand against the relocation of sexually violent predators into the family orientated community of Jacumba Hot Springs. Jacumba is filled with children and families. Children are always seen playing in their yards, at the park, riding their bicycle or skateboard, walking to and from the school bus stop. We are a community, and the relocation of this man in Jacumba will change our lives and our children's lives forever. Every child, woman, and man will constantly be put into harm's way because of the relocation of Mr. Blockettt. This is the home of so many families and young children and it's not okay that our safety is not taken into consideration.  It's time for a change. Help us be that change today!!! We need to stand up and speak out against Jacumba's residents being put into constant danger from these sexually violent predators. We will not be silenced, we will not back down.
