On Sept 12, 2019, Brooke Skylar Richardson, 19, of Carlisle was found not guilty of aggravated murder, involuntary manslaughter, endangering children by a jury in Warren County Common Pleas Court. They found her guilty of a lesser charge of abuse of a corpse. 
In 2017, Skylar, an 18-year-old honor student and a cheerleader, found that she was pregnant during a routine ob/gyn appointment. 
She was told she had 10 weeks but her baby Annabelle was born dead 11 days later. She buried her in the backyard.
Police coerced a confession from her after their doctor erroneously reported that the baby had been burned. A two year legal saga followed. 
Skylar was charged with abuse of a corpse because she buried Annabelle in a manner inconsistent with local law. 
For this offense, she was given three years of probation. She has served one year. On November 17, 2020, there will be a hearing to determine whether Skylar’s probation can be terminated. 
We understand that members of a Facebook group oppose the termination based on the charges as a whole. Skylar was only found guilty of abuse of a corpse. We respectfully disagree with them and we ask Judge Oda to consider that it is immoral to punish a young woman for an improper burial for three years. 
She is in college, she is doing well and she is living a life of a model citizen. 
We ask that this request be granted and Skylar be allowed to go on with the process of healing and rebuilding her life.
