The Issue
Bring a JROTC Program to White Plains High School
Why This Matters:
White Plains High School offers many opportunities for students through clubs and courses. However, one program that could greatly benefit students and the community is a JROTC (Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps) program.
JROTC helps students build leadership, discipline, responsibility, and strong character. It also develops teamwork, confidence, communication skills, and respect for others—qualities that are essential for young people today.
While JROTC is often associated with students interested in a military career, the program benefits all students, helping them grow into responsible leaders in their communities regardless of the career path they choose.
The Solution:
With support from the White Plains community, White Plains High School could establish a JROTC program that would positively impact students for years to come.
One requirement for starting the program is having qualified instructors. These instructors can be retired veterans or current service members from our community who meet the qualifications. More information about becoming a JROTC instructor can be found here:
