The Issue

On September 9, 2015 a referendum was held in Nipawin to vote on the resolution to sell a piece of Central Park to Span West for the purpose of building a 22 unit executive condominium. The resolution was narrowly defeated by a mere 45 votes. This split vote has caused our community to be divided where we were hoping to have clear and obvious closure. Nipawin is fortunate to have developers like Span West consider us for large-scale projects like this.  Without the investments of companies such as these, our community would struggle to grow and thrive.  We also have unique public green spaces available to us.  Not many towns can boast a central, public gathering place like our Central Park.  While we are very eager to invite new development into our town, we are not eager about the prospect of having to sacrifice even a small part of Central Park to have it. Please sign this petition asking Josh Remai of Span West to re-enter negotiations with Town of Nipawin and to reconsider the proposed location of the condominium in Nipawin so that we won't have to be a community divided by the division of our public park and can instead be a community brought together by responsible growth and development that is welcomed by all.
