Speak for the Trees and ReThink the WhiteHorse Park Expansion Project

Speak for the Trees and ReThink the WhiteHorse Park Expansion Project
The Issue
I have lived 1/4 mile from Whitehorse Park for 29 years. It has always been a small, quaint, unassuming park, in which one can enjoy the solitude of nature just 7 miles outside the city of Grants Pass. Known by many locals for its birdwatching and large, beautiful mix of towering Madrone, Oak, and Pine tree groves set along the Rogue River, it provides locals and campers alike the opportunity to disappear from the busy, traffic-laden asphalt street maze and become immersed in nature. Boasting one of the areas most treasured bird sanctions, with more than 180 species recorded, Whitehorse Park, with all its beautiful trees and the life they bring, is a very special gem.
The park redevelopment is a million+ dollar project that plans to remove 348 large, established, living trees in order to expand the roadway and make room for updated facilities and 20 new paved RV sites.
All over the world, developments are occurring in unique natural spaces, like Whitehorse Park, that endanger and deplete clean air, pure water, wildlife, and plant life. The trees cool our air, retain soil and moisture, and provide life to many species. It is time for folks to speak up for our planet and not allow those in power to deplete these resources, which are being taken away more and more each and every day.
Please help me in speaking up for these hundreds of trees, the wildlife that will suffer, the environment, and many local residents who cherish this beautiful space and the serene environment Whitehorse offers. There are plenty of RV parks with paved spaces around, but only one beautiful Whitehorse Park.
