Dear President Biden,

The Oct 7 Hamas terrorist attack on Israeli men, women, and children was an atrocity. Without question, Israel has the right and duty to protect its people by destroying Hamas. However, retaliating against Hamas by starving, bombing and displacing the two million men, women and children of Gaza is wrong morally as well as strategically. This is a military response with no organizing or articulated objective other than rage-fueled destruction. Sadly, our current stance of unconditional support for Israel is also our tacit acceptance of their rage response against Gaza.

You have spoken eloquently about the battle for the soul of our nation - our core decency, strength and ideals that place highest value on life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness for all people. We cannot continue to unconditionally support Israel's military actions in Gaza without compromising our soul. As Israel's fiercest and most trusted ally, we have a responsibility to help Israel regain perspective, articulate morally conscionable military objectives and formulate tactics accordingly.

Only you, the American President, have the power to persuade the Israeli government to end this inhumane siege of Gaza. You and your administration must let Israel and the world know that there are limits to the civilian suffering we will accept, especially from one of our closest allies.
