Gibain na ang Torre De Manila (Dismantle the Torre de Manila now)

Jose Rizal is the reason why the Philippines is a nation free to rule themselves as an independent people, without the exploitation that they once faced under colonial rule.

It is because of this that the Rizal monument in Luneta has become a national treasure that will be celebrated for generations to come.

Like many Filipinos, I grew up visiting Luneta to stare at the statue of Rizal and ponder on the great sacrifice he made for our country. On these visits, I enjoyed a clear view of our national hero, with nothing but the Philippine sky spanning behind. This distraction free background meant that I was able to focus on the focal point of Luneta: The Rizal monument and Rizal's legacy .

Unfortunately, that reality and focal point has now changed. You must now take in the looming sight of the 49 story Torre de Manila directly behind the monument. Guys, it looks worse in reality than it does in pictures. Not only is the building a massive 49 stories high, it is really wide and ugly. It is a real distraction :(

Mayor Joseph Ejercito Estrada, if this petition can reach 100,000 signatures by March 31, 2016, please listen to concerned citizens of the Philippines and ensure that a) DMCI discontinue this project immediately following receipt of these signatures and b) that the building is demolished so that the clear visual corridors surrounding the Rizal monument are restored.

What you can do to help:

* Sign this petition. It doesn't take long. If we can reach the 100,000 target, I will deliver the collected signatures personally to the office of Mayor Joseph Ejercito Estrada on behalf of all of you. Every signature counts.

* Share this on Facebook so that we can hit 100,000 signatures. Every share counts.

Maraming salamat po.
