Save the Reservoirs, Stop the Concrete Tanks

Save the Reservoirs, Stop the Concrete Tanks
The Issue
The Passaic Valley Water Commission (PVWC) has approved partially or completely draining the New Street, Great Notch and Levine Reservoirs and replacing them with concrete tanks at a cost of over $100 million. While being done in response to an EPA rule, the EPA is reviewing this rule through 2016 and agencies in other states have held off on draining reservoirs until the EPA completes their review. Ask the PVWC to delay draining these reservoirs until the EPA completes their review to preserve these scenic views, property values and avert possible water rate increases to pay for the costs of constructing these tanks.
