Recently, a few boys at South Jordan Middle school called a student the N-word as they were arguing. The young woman who was being attacked retaliated and slapped the boys who said it and later reported it to the school. The boys all received in school suspension and the young woman received one day of at home suspension.

This is not the only instance of racism, homophobia, misogyny, ableism or transphobia at South Jordan Middle. Recently many of my friends have been called various homophobic and racist slurs for being gay, trans or people of color. The school district hasnt done much to stop this and none of the people who have been saying these awful things have been punished or scolded in any way.

The school district needs to put a stop to this and needs to punish all the attackers.
