Ryan Goel started this petition to Presiden Republik Indonesia Joko Widodo and

Forests in Indonesia are one of the largest in the entire world, almost third place in the largest forests in the world. Indonesia is home to over 15% of mammals, plants, etc in the world. A lot of rare species can be found in Indonesian forests which are becoming more and more extinct.

Forests actually help to regulate the Earth's temperature, and trees actually breathe in carbon, helping to regulate how much carbon we have in the air. But, when Deforestation occurs, all of that Carbon that trees breathe is shot up into the air causing air pollution. And one of the main reasons for Deforestation is because of Palm oil. In fact, palm oil is one of the biggest contributors to Deforestation. Indonesian companies do Deforestation to strip trees of their palm oil and make palm oil plantations.

Fun Fact: When you drain the forests, they start to become flammable and once forests start to ignite, it becomes extremely difficult to control the fire and it starts to spread, polluting the atmosphere even more than before. One example of when this happened was during 2015. Dangerous blazes swept through the major cities in Indonesia such as Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Papua. These fires produced such a powerful blaze, that it caused it to not just affect Indonesia, but also most of the Southasian countries. The disaster cost over $16bn and caused 100k premature deaths.

In Indonesia, forests and peatlands are cleared to create different types of pulp, and paper plantations for tissue, paper, and packaging materials. There are mainly 3 companies that are responsible for Deforestation: "Mars" "Nestle" & "Mondelez, for their excessive Deforestation.

In 2018, Greenspace International investigation found that there was a severe logging force located in a heavily orangutan populated area, in West Kalimantan.

That just shows you how bad it is, the fact that not only Deforestation is happening, but illegal deforestation as well. This makes the situation worse since people realize what they're doing is wrong, but they don't care about anything else but money and continue to do it.

3 things have to be done:

1. Charges must immediately be fined to these companies. The people involving the illegal operation and employees in the 3 companies listed must all be fired and arrested right away.

2. Indonesia should launch a new organization that can ensure the safety of animals and trees nearby. Not just Greenpeace but more should be founded.

3. Most importantly: LIMIT THE USE OF PALM OIL AND PULP.

Please help me to get this petition out and share this on your social media platforms. I just wanna thank everyone who signed this petition and is helping us get justice for not just the trees, but also other animals who are being affected and even other humans.
