Join the Call for a Balanced Tariff Off-Ramp for U.S. Retail
The Issue
Petition for a Collaborative Resolution to Address Rising Tariffs Impacting the U.S. Retail Supply Chain
Authored by Jeremy Brockbank, Founder and CEO, Retail Collective
We, the undersigned, represent a diverse group of stakeholders in the United States’ retail ecosystem—retailers, retail brands, manufacturers, suppliers, logistics providers, and others integral to the supply chain. We are united by a shared concern over the uncertainty and economic challenges posed by rising tariffs. Our goal is to advocate for a non-partisan, mutually beneficial solution that supports the vitality of U.S. retail, protects jobs, and ensures affordability for consumers.
Tariffs, while sometimes intended to protect domestic interests, can create significant disruptions across the retail supply chain. These disruptions affect businesses of all sizes, from small retailers to global brands, and ultimately impact the consumers we serve. The uncertainty surrounding tariffs strains planning, increases costs, and threatens the stability of an industry that employs millions of Americans.
We believe that collaboration is the path forward. We respectfully call upon policymakers, industry leaders, and stakeholders to come together at the table to craft a balanced, pragmatic resolution. This resolution should aim to:
1. Stabilize the Retail Supply Chain: Mitigate the uncertainty caused by tariffs to allow businesses to plan effectively and maintain operational resilience.
2. Support American Businesses and Workers: Protect the economic health of retailers, brands, and supply chain partners while preserving and creating jobs across the nation.
3. Ensure Affordability for Consumers: Minimize cost increases that could lead to higher prices, ensuring that American families can continue to access quality goods at reasonable prices.
4. Foster Long-Term Growth: Promote policies that strengthen the competitiveness of U.S. retail and its supply chain in the global marketplace.
This petition is not about assigning blame or taking sides. It is a call for unity and constructive dialogue to find an off-ramp that calms the waters in retail and creates a win-win outcome for all stakeholders. We are committed to working together to build bridges, share perspectives, and advocate for solutions that benefit our industry, our communities, and our country.
By signing below, we signal our support for a collaborative approach to resolving tariff-related challenges and our willingness to engage in meaningful discussions to achieve a sustainable, mutually beneficial outcome.
We invite all affected stakeholders to join us in this effort. Please provide your name, title, company, and signature to demonstrate your commitment to this.
