In light of the "Redskins" name being changed, in a town rich with KKK and racist history, it is time for the mascot "The Indians" to go in JC. They are not honoring the Natives, they are appropriating them.

Calling themselves Indians and going as a "Tribe" is not only completely innapropriate, but disrespectful given how close the area is to the Trail of Tears. In a location rich with Native & Indigenous history, they are dishonoring the true American Indians & tribes by claiming their lives and culture as their own.

Racism and racial injustice is finally being brought to light, it is time to do your part and act on what you can locally. Native Americans deserve your respect and support.

I am not asking for any money to be donated whatsoever. Whether you live in JC or not, help us create a safer, non-racist environment for our youth to grow up in. It is our duty as American to not use fellow Americans as a mascot for ourselves. We are all human.

Human beings are not a costume.
