We need a temporary mask mandate in the City of Johnston. The community spread is high, hospitals are overwhelmed, and people are dying. Masks are life saving tools that protect the person wearing the mask and the people around said person. It is time that the Johnston City Council step up to defeat this virus by enacting a mask mandate. We have elected them to lead our community, and we are now speaking up about the need for a mask mandate in our community to keep all of us safe. This would help us get COVID-19 under control in Johnston by slowing the community spread. The sooner we get the virus under control, the sooner our businesses can reopen, our kids can return to school, and our economy can return to its previous state. It is crucial that all members of our community wear masks to keep everyone safe. Unfortunately some people are not using this life saving tool, so we need to do whatever we can to get them on board. If a mask mandate will do that, it is absolutely worth it. It is time that we take action to save lives!
