John Jay College of Criminal Justice located in New York City, has made the decision to take away the graduation hoods from those who earned their bachelor's degree. Traditionally hoods are worn by those who have earned their masters, however, John Jay has allowed both earners of bachelors and masters to be adorned in hoods of various colors accordance to their major during the commencement exercise. We the students at John Jay College feel this decision is wrong! We have all worked extremely hard in our respected majors and we want to represent our colored hoods.It's not fair that all classes before 2020 was afforded the opportunity to wear their hoods and now the class of 20' and future classes cannot. I along with other students have made several attempts to speak with commencement coordinators and even John Jay's president Karol Mason in hopes they would reconsider their decision. We feel this petition is our LAST RESORT. The Class of 2020 and future classes to come wishes to be adorned in full graduation regalia for our families and loved ones to see. Please support us!
