I am currently attending Appoquinimink High School in 10th grade and I am currently concerned about my, every student, teacher, district worker, and the overall public health.

I would like to propose that Appoquinimink School District schools and offices to close and go into their “phase 4” action plan for virus spreads. I propose for this to take action until at least the end of the European travel ban, evaluate the situation from there, and take the best course of action.

If any student contracts COVID-19, it could be disastrous as we students can be carriers or be infected. Our parents/SOs would be highly likely to contract the virus and therefore spreading the virus to there workplaces and places of daily visitation. A University of Delaware professor tested positive of COVID-19 as of yesterday.

I personally am very scared for the coming weeks. I know that the mortality rate is way lower for children but I am concerned for my family and friends’ health. I also work in a public restaurant and do not want to get any of my customers or coworkers sick if I do become infected or am carrying it. Especially since I am making the food that goes on their plates.

Any concerned citizens of COVID-19 and the public health of the community I advise to sign to protect the community, friends, and family. Thank you for your time.
