JMU DukesEstados Unidos
14 oct 2015
All,
Homecoming is just a week and a half away! Our football team is 6-0 and our collective fall sports have a 70% winning percentage! Continued thanks for your support on this important issue. JMU is not a private company (or school for that matter). It is a public institution that WE root for, attended, donate to, and/or have ties to in one way or another. This means it does not belong to appointed Board of Visitors members or a President. Please take time to write respectful but opinionated emails to President Jon Alger (president@jmu.edu). It is important that we capitalize on the national exposure that Coach Withers and staff are bringing to JMU to position us to lobby for the best athletic conference move.
Some of the recent pub:
-Vad Lee was on an ESPN SportsCenter segment following the SMU win (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SuT4EBioUGU).
-JMU was featured on social media for having awesome new football uniforms last year and amazing locker room renovations this year (https://twitter.com/CoachStretch/status/653552036311629824).
-Obviously the 6-0 start with the most dynamic offense in the country and a win over FBS foe SMU.
JMU is looking to possibly make a big splash yet again. It is a bit of a long shot but due to the lack of quality games the weekend of our Homecoming, there is a possibility that ESPN College Gameday would consider hosting their weekly show from Harrisonburg! The 'ins' is that we have some connections that are alums - College Gameday producer (@leefitting), ESPN anchor (Lindsay Czarniak (@lindsayczarniak) and apparently some other inside friends!
The appearance of College Gameday to JMU would be huge to reignite a weary fanbase who is tired of playing in the CAA and also showcase the University, Bridgeforth Stadium, and possibly some signs indicating we "want FBS!" on a national stage.
Apparently some rabid fans have funded a prop plane to fly a banner over Bridgeforth before and during the game saying "JMU 2 FBS!..." or something like that. It would be cool if it got captured on TV!
Give our friends @JMUGameday a follow, obviously @JMU2FBS and you can also follow @JMUDukeBlawg for unofficial and uncensored JMU sports news. If you don't have Twitter, you're not alone.. but post links and info on Facebook.
Spread the word about the petition and Go Dukes!
