Publically apologize for the use of the word "retarded"

Publically apologize for the use of the word "retarded"
The Issue
As a National Football Player and role model to many, Joe Flacco's actions can be viewed as acceptable and lead to many individuals using these words loosely, out of context and in a manner hurtful to individuals that might be physically or mentally challenged. Being on a pedestal as a NFL quarterback and in a Super Bowl, his actions are viewed and influential to many impressionable children and citizens. His non-chalant use of the word "retarded" conveys a sense of acceptability in the eyes of many. This type of behavior by role models such as Joe Flacco needs to stop if we're going preventing bulling and intimidation in our society. As a father of an autistic child, i find this deeply offensive as well as showing a lack of empathy for what families with mentally challenged children go through. Joe Flacco's behaviors are unacceptable especially given he's a NFL Quarterback on the biggest stage.
