FREE JODY AGUIRRE!

For more than three decades, Jody Joseph Aguirre has been in prison. Despite being sentenced to life without the possibility of parole for felony murder back in the early nineteen nineties, however, the Denver native still holds on to the hope that his innocence will one day come to light or that the citizens of the great state of Colorado (and beyond) will sign the following petition in support of Aguirre's potential request for clemency.

Please sign the following petition (with a message to Governor Polis) to ensure that Aguirre's tireless mission of teaching our youth (from personal experience) the perils of failing to disassociate ones self from those who continue to live a criminal lifestyle reaches those who have the authority to correct the injustice which stole his life more then three decades ago.

Your signature below says you support clemency for Jody Aguirre.

In the meantime, Aguirre, who has become a beacon for change, growth, and positivity to staff and inmates behind, and beyond prison walls, will continue to dedicate his life to helping others by utilizing the blessings of knowledge, purpose, and compassion he's acquired through transformative programs like "7 Habits of Highly Effective People," which Aguirre has had the privilege of being a student of, and facilitator for, over the past two decades, and, "Inside Wire," (click here) https://www.coloradoprisonradio.com/ the first ever prison radio station to broadcast worldwide via the internet, where Aguirre proudly served as its Engagement Director and award winning producer. Aguirre's voice can be heard in the podcast "The Warrior" which he received the Gold Signal Award from the Society of Professional Journalists. (click here) https://soundcloud.com/inside-wire/chow-time-the-warrior-from-the-big-yard-to-the-barber-shop-in-colorado-prisons-jody-aguirre He was also interviewed by fellow "Inside Wire" colleague that details a moment that changed his life for the better when he was serving in solitary confinement at the Colorado State Penitentary (CSP).(click here) https://soundcloud.com/inside-wire/one-tune-jody-aguirre?in=inside-wire%2Fsets%2Fone-tune Aguirre was also blessed to be the focus of an interview done by journalist Nancy Chen for CBS Mornings. The interview centers on the radio station being the first of its kind in the nation. (click here) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ygkTUAFyuRk

Aguirre is also a certified Mental Health Peer Assistant. A highly successful inmate driven program initiated by the Colorado Department of Corrections designed to make our overcrowded prison system safer for staff, inmates, and community at large, by deploying certified mental health professionals (inmates) to counsel distressed or unstable inmates who might harm themselves, or others.

But while Aguirre takes his mission of mentoring very seriously, he does find time to wind down by taking classes offered by the University of Denver and several other institutions, such as writing and theater. In addition to playing a lead role in the theater production of Sophocles' "Antigoni" (a greek tragedy), Aguirre helped write, and acted in, Grapefruit Labs original production of, "Last Cafe at the End of the World," for which he received glowing reviews. (click here) https://www.thelimonleader.com/stories/the-limon-correctional-facility-offenders-present-the-last-caf-at-the-end-of-the-world,38204

And he isn't done. Coming in Spring or Summer of 2026, you just might see Aguirre (as juror # 3) in Grapefruit Labs production of "12 Angry Men."

In the meantime, Aguirre will carry on his regular duties as staff barber at Limon Correctional Facility (LCF), where he promotes positive interaction between staff and inmates with good haircuts and pro-social dialogue  and, as "One Vision's" front man. One Vision is the Colorado Department of Correction's first ever staff inmate band, whose mission is to foster positive interaction between staff and inmates, and the broader community, through music.

Sign this petition to urge the authorities to reassess Jody's sentences and provide him with the possibility of a future. By signing this petition, we demonstrate that Jody has the support of the his family, friends and greater U.S. community. Let us stand together in support of Jody Aguirre and of a legal system that believes in second chances.
