The Issue

I LOVE JIM THORPE. The people, the natural beauty, the Victorian architecture,  the outdoor activities, the kindness of our neighbors, the music and arts scene — everything about our town is incredible.

But I also worry deeply about its future. We deserve leadership that is respectful, collaborative, approachable and committed to strengthening — not burdening — our community.

Unfortunately, under Borough Manager Maureen Sterner, too many residents and business owners have experienced interactions that feel dismissive and unprofessional.  Even more concerning, many of the policies advanced during her tenure have:

  • Increased taxes and fees
  • Spent excessively on capital projects
  • Created unnecessary obstacles for local livelihoods
  • Placed added pressure on small businesses
  • Pushed through harsh policies that have chipped away at our quality of life and strained our community

With her contract set to expire this year, we have a critical opportunity to make a change. It’s time for Borough Council, and  ALL OF US  to not renew her contract and instead open the position to qualified new candidates who will bring fresh ideas, respect for residents, and a real vision for the future of Jim Thorpe.

This is not about personal attacks — it’s about accountability, fairness, and the kind of leadership our community deserves: open, empathetic, visionary, and solutions-driven.

Please join me in calling for new leadership in Jim Thorpe Borough management. Together, we can ensure a brighter, more affordable, and more respectful future for everyone who calls Jim Thorpe home. It is time;  we need leadership in place that is helping us thrive and live in peace.
