Hello everyone , 

My name is Raniyah T. , I am 8 months pregnant but my sons father is incarcerated, he was arrested when i was only 1 month pregnant. He’s at Curran-Fromhold Correctional Facility or CFCF prison in Philadelphia.

The prison has been on a strict lockdown for the past year during the COVID-19 pandemic. While the entire city re-opens and has been open for months, the prison remains closed. Not only is the prison closed, the inmates are also being neglected of their recreational time, and most importantly, their health care. I’ve contacted them numerous times inquiring about visiting hours re-opening and when the jail would be running normally. I've always been given the same answer: “we don’t know”,  until last week when I called and they said they weren’t opening at all, and that the new way of visiting would be video chats on the tablets. While I appreciate the video chat effort, it’s nothing compared to in person time. You need to hold your loved ones. Plus the tablets connection is extremely janky.

An inmate can be locked up at CFCF for years while either waiting for sentencing or waiting to be released. This idea of the city keeping them locked up for years at a time and not being allotted time to see family members is absolutely disgusting and unethical. As humans, we need other humans. 

As we all know, human beings are flawed creatures. These people are already paying for their wrong doings, they should at least be granted the right to see their children, friends and family members that know and love them. Stand with me to help and open CFCF, We are not our mistakes.
