My daughter was the victim of a crime that occured repeatedly for over 8 years. She was sexually assulted by her step brother from the age of 5 until 13. He has admitted to this crime however it seems as justice will not prevail as our court system feels he should not have to register for life, only 5 years. She will live with this for life. She will continue to have nightmares far past the 5 years he will be on the registry. She will continue to have panic attacks for longer then 5 years he is on the registry. She has been robbed of her childhood for more years then he will be on the registry or serve time in jail. It is time we stand up for our young women and applaud their courage and not continue to revictimize them.
