With recent news showing cancer rates among under-50s in the UK have risen 24% since 1995, we need GPs to more proactive in considering cancer in young people. We need to ensure legislation of Jess’s Law, encouraging Primary Care Doctors stop dismissing and start rethinking a patient’s symptoms.
We need to secure bold commitments from electoral candidates and political parties ahead of the general election. We would be so grateful if you would send an email to the main political parties and electoral candidates (template below). This link https://whocanivotefor.co.uk/elections/SG14%202QH/100080736619/ will enable you to find the candidates in your area.
As always, your support is hugely important, and we remain truly grateful for your time and commitment to this campaign. Thank you so much.
“Dear [place election candidate name here],
I am writing to you as a local voter ahead of the upcoming general election. As a supporter of the change.org. campaign, “Jess’s Law - improve the awareness and diagnosis of cancer in young adults” https://chng.it/VVWR9dQwQw I am deeply committed to improving earlier cancer diagnosis.
Following the late cancer diagnosis of their 27 year old daughter, Jessica, the Bradys’ have been campaigning for Jess’s Law. The proposal for Jess’s Law is simple: if, after three consultations, a patient’s condition remains unresolved, the symptoms are escalating, or they have no substantiated diagnosis, the patient’s case should be elevated for review and a new assessment made. To date the petition has received over 320,000 signatures.
As my prospective Member of Parliament, I would welcome your support to make sure Jess’s Law is implemented and I would like to hear how you would help action this if elected.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Yours sincerely,
(Your name)
The photo of Jess was taken the day she passed her driving test. A happy day when Jess was rewarded for her perseverance and resilience. Gorgeous girl.
