Save Kaercher Creek Park

The Issue

Approximately seven years ago, battery casings and lead contamination were found at Kaercher Creek Park. It's believed that these battery casings came from the former Price Battery Plant.  Exide recently filed for bankruptcy, and the governmental bar date to submit a claim is November 16, 2020.  We are asking you, as our legislators representing both Kaercher Creek Park and Hamburg, to do the following on our behalf:

  1. Reach out to the EPA to have testing completed of all areas of Kaercher Creek Park as soon as possible, including water bodies coming into the park and exiting the park
  2. Make the EPA testing results available to the public
  3. Have EPA draw up a proposal as per the cost for current remediation, as well as any proposed future remediation for BOTH Kaercher Creek Park and Hamburg, and
  4. Submit a government claim for BOTH Kaercher Creek Park and Hamburg by November 16, 2020 at 5:00 PM via website https://cases.primeclerk.com/Exide2020/

Thank you for representing us, your constituents, in ensuring clean parks, clean waterways, and clean properties for our families, our children, and for generations to come!

Sincerely - Your Constituents and Supporters of Save Kaercher Creek
