End Gender Bias in California's Workers' Comp

Being a woman shouldn't be a pre-existing condition. Not for your health insurance, and not when you're at risk on the job. But in California, if you get sick or injured at work, being a woman could reduce the workers' compensation you're entitled to under the law.
It's a system that treats prostate cancer differently than breast cancer, minimizes the impact of sexual harassment, and largely ignores the toll of aging on women, putting women directly at physical and financial risk. It's not right, and it's time to fix the broken system.
Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez and Senator Marty Block have authored Assembly Bill 305, which would ensure women can no longer be discriminated against when determining workers' compensation claims for a work injury because of conditions predominantly or only impacting women.
We urge Governor Jerry Brown to join us in supporting AB 305 to end gender bias in California's workers' compensation system and make clear that being a woman isn't a pre-existing condition.
