Purple Heart Recreation Center has been an historical monument in Lake Charles, LA for many generations, birthing many professional athletes on all levels of sports. Purple Heart Recreation is also a safe heaven in the surrounding metro area serving as beacon of hope shining everlasting light in the community for family and friends. Inaugural sport activities, Christian fellowship , youth development catapulted many young men and women to be successful in there way of life. Escaping violence an drugs on the street or just to get away from family problems endured at home. Veterans that call Lake Charles there home grappled for change during a time of need and has assisted with managing the facility since it's has opened. Now shifting to the problem at hand a would be crisis in the community; Hurricane Laura as ravaged southwest Louisiana including Purple Heart Recreation Center deemed as a total rebuild inside and out. The gym and place we all love passionately will not be returning to the area instead, it's considered by the city engineer Mark Huber to return as a " Police Academy " if we don't take action by signing this petition an getting as many signatures as possible to ensure that this never happens. We need more than 60'000 people to show up at each of the city council meetings starting Oct. 6 , 326 Pujo St Lake Charles, LA 70601. Until we stop this from happening.
