Why this petition matters

Started by Mark Scrivens

Parliament is an archaic form of governance that unnecessarily hangs on to outdated dogma.

Why, in this technological age, where we are encouraged to run our lives online, should we not get to vote upon every policy that is proposed in parliament? Why is an obscene amount of money poured into the upkeep of parliamentary buildings, along with security costs and MP's salaries, when the technology exists for every adult to have a say, on a daily basis, of how the UK is run?

This is the age of online banking, passport and driving licence applications. Why then would it not be safe for the public to electronically sign to acknowledge that they have read a policy and related papers to vote upon its acceptance or rejection?

If a population-wide parliament existed, then every decision would be truly democratic.
