Dangerous Holiday Season in the Jefferson Parish Public Schools
Today, nola.com has reported 223 new positive cases and nearly three thousand students and staff added to the quarantine list. Furthermore, the story reveals that with the district dropping the number of quarantine days, the risk of transmission of Covid-19 can increase by as much as 12%. Though education workers and school level administrators continue to do everything possible to mitigate the spread of the virus, the reality is that only so much can be done.
With the pandemic getting worse, many of us question these policy decisions that continue to be made. The stories that continue to be released into the public eye do not represent “misinformation” but rather the reality of our lived experiences. As education workers, we must continue to do everything we can to protect each other and our students who we love. Continue to stand up for what you believe in, and continue to speak up against injustice and dangers that you see.
