Dumfries and Galloway Council's Education Committee, with Jeff Leaver as chairman, have shown spectacular error of judgement in dismissing Mark Turner as Head Teacher at Dumfries High School and indeed as a teacher in the same region.  Mark Turner has had an exemplary career with an approach which was always inclusive, forward thinking, caring and supportive. His teaching came from the heart and his focus at all times was 100% on what was best for the children.  We feel he has been extremely harshly treated for something that seems not to have happened the way the press would have us believe.  Under Mark's leadership school improvement is obvious with results at DHS the best in decades.  He is a man who has kept his counsel over the last 3 months to protect the school community he loved and gave everything for.  We insist that the Education Committee's decision be reviewed as a matter of urgency and that Mark Turner be re-instated as soon as possible.
