Fellow Concerned Students, Recently the “Americans for Free Speech in Education” started a petition to counter this one (link is in this post). Their main argument is that we are infringing upon Mrs. Wards First Amendment Right, which we are not, we are not saying she can not say these things, just that she can not say them on behalf of U-46. The AFSE is also claiming we are promoting “totalitarianism and intolerance” by trying to petitioning against an elected U-46 board member, who we, as students, literally could not vote for or against. The comments on their petition are even more insulting, throwing words like “Marxist” and “Un-American” at us, yet we are the ones using “Bully Tactics”. In light of these events, it is imperative that we spread the word. If everyone who has signed told one more person, we would double in size overnight. The counter petition is currently only sitting 10 supporters behind ours, so we need to grow quickly. We can’t let them suppress the student voice. This petition is students saying what we don’t want our education to look like. This is us showing a voice we can’t show in the electoral system. We can’t let a group of adults walk all over us and and determine our education.
