In view of recent outages which appear to be recurring on a regular basis, the residents of Baymeadows, undersigned below, are asking for the Jacksonville Energy Authority (JEA) to implement necessary Infrastructure Updates, Clarity,  Transparency and Timeliness in planning, addressing and reporting outages.

Of particular interest are the needs during heavy rains and storms. These are the times during which most of the outages occur. This is usually a reflection of needed upgrades and/or maintenance to the infrastructure.

Electricity is not a luxury, it is needed for every day living, medical equipment, work, communications, security and safety. Recently an outage affecting over 5,100 residents of the area was experienced. To date, it is not known what caused the outage or why it happened, "service interruption" is not the answer!

If a transformer blows because of lightning, then it needs to be protected for such events, similarly if flooding, wind, vandalism, and proximity to traffic are an issue, those must be addressed and resolved. I have a background in planning of major projects and it seems this is not such a grandiose undertaking.

Therefore, the undersigned are asking JEA to evaluate and make the necessary changes, upgrades and investments required to ensure the continued and uninterrupted, safety, lives, work, communications and every day power needs of this community.
